Sulmtalers Thread

Cjwaldon I hatched 3 Sulmtalers on Friday, and I think I have two females and one male. The Sulmtalers seem to hatch a higher percentage of females or is it just me? My last hatch of Sulmtalers I hatched one male and five females!!!!

You can tell genders already? I only kept one set of chicks so far and they were exactly 50/50 on gender.

I was going by wing feathers. Two were the same, the other was different. Now on day three the two have wing feathers growing out, the other one is still fuzz. Just a guess. So I guess two females and one male. If those two get their tail feathers first then it is a much better guess also.

Let's talk fencing...My birds are really beginning to roost on the TOP of the fencing and even fly up on top of the coop.

What's a good height for Sulmtaler? I have netting over the top but they're still small enough to creep through the fence and free range themselves including walking on TOP of the netting.

Active little buggers.

If anyone knows where I can get some sulmtaler eggs, chicks, hens etc. Please message me. Thanks in advance for your help!!!

I am feeling really lucky right now.

I traded a couple of my Olandsk Dwarf pullets for some of tnchickenut's Bantam Barnevelder eggs and she included a few Sulmtaler eggs as extras. They hatched day before yesterday and I now have 3 lovely Sulmtaler chicks.

They sound like wonderful birds. We happen to be raising White and Black Bresse already, it will be fun to see how they compare.
