ok i know that they come in two colors the very common color white and the very rare (i have been searching) black. i want to try and create a new color for this breed (bantam version) but am hesitant because i will be working with white and having to use another breed to introduce the other color. the best breed i can think of is a d'uccle as they are almost the same except for a few things such as body type, the crest, and the five toes. i just dont know what color to use. i dont want a pattern sultan but more of a solid color. i was thinking about using the buff Colombian d'uccle. what do yall think about this and any and all advice would be great.

my other project that i have asked about is the silked d'uccle. i'm trying to find some solid black d'uccle but i have had no luck in this. what other color(s) might i try instead, keeping in mind what color silkies come in and what colors d'uccles come in.

with both of these i want to use breeds that are very close to looking semi the same but i know with these projects i will have a lot of work to do not only getting the genes needed but also in getting back to the correct type the sultan slandered and the d'uccle standard.

You may not be getting much feedback because nobody even has decent white Sultans out there...creating a "new variety" when the original is such a disaster is a little puzzling.

Edited just to say: Bantams may be a little better off, but there are probably only handful of breeders of even those. I'm sure they would love an enthusiastic new breeder to help keep the breed alive in it's current color.

i would be keeping up with the current color in its own pen and in 2-3 other pens working on a new variety but i want to get every ones opinions and see what others think. the only sultans i currently have are from a hatchery but i want to some better quality ones other than hatchery i just find that it is hard to find good birds to start with :-(

Right on with ya.

The question is, though, - What color do you want to introduce? Sultans are either dominant or recessive white, likely the latter, which means first you must figure out what they're hiding with some test crosses, then figure out what color you want to introduce.
