By the time I get home from work, I should have 5 chicks hatched today under a couple of broodys. 2 already hatched this morning, and the rest have all pipped and are chirping. I have a white bantam sultan roo and the eggs are from the following hens:

2 porcelain d'Uccles
1 mille fleur d'Uccle
1 white d'Uccle
1 penciled silkie x bantam cochin

So what colors could I get? The 2 this morning were still wet when I looked, but one appeared porcelain and the other kind of mottled black?

I hope to post pix later tonight, but I've just been wondering all day at work!

Here's my fuzzy mobile pic from this morning:

After trying out this fancy Dutch online chicken color calculator , I've found some possible answers to my own question.

the mille fleur and porcelain should produce gold/buff columbian types,
the white to white = white (of course)
and the white x silver pencilled, a gold pencilled (pullet) or a yellow/golden pencilled (roo)

I also tried out what colors I should have gotten from the wheaten easter egger x white sultan chicks that hatched a couple of weeks ago, and it calculated gold duckwing, which seems right because the chicks do indeed look gold duckwing.

Fascinating! Let's see if it's correct when I get home tonight!

Here's 3 of the chicks that hatched today. The other 2 hatched under a different broody hen early this evening and were still wet when it got dark.
These are 3 of the 4 d'Uccle chicks:

-- the last d'Uccle that hatched also appears dark like this one.

I wasn't expecting the chipmunk stripes! Of all the d'Uccle and Sultan chicks I've seen online, I didn't see any with these markings.

Here are the other two that hatched early yesterday evening. Now I'm really confused. How did I end up with a very black chick? My white Sultan is my only rooster. Wouldn't have my white d'Uccle given me a white chick? Didn't get any.

Oh well. I love them all!

I remember last year there was a member from Montana crossing a porcelain d'uccle roo to her sultan hen, she got all sorts of crazy colors, she stopped emailing me awhile back but the crosses were very pretty.
