Sumatra Thread!

I will work on getting pics in time. Right now we have a dun rooster, a few black roosters, and lots of black and dun females that we will be breeding from. I haven't gotten any pics lately but we are expecting a group of new birds to come this week from a friend who decided to work on bantams. When they get here, I'll try to get pics of the roosters and hens.
We like ours gamey. Not pit/fighting looking gamey, but more of a wild/feral style gamey, it seems to make them look more regal and elegant

it does Michael,

yall have bred a real good looking line in these duns I got from you. Not over kill on the game look, but more in line of what a sumatra is supposed to look like. Good leg lenght too. A lot of folks got into a shorter leg version of them, and by standard it just isnt correct for the breed. Once the cockerel gets threw feathering out I'll post some pics of them on here for everyone to see. Think they are going to be perfect for what I needing in my duns.

I know I've posted this guy before, but this is kinda the look I like in them, maybe a touch more game looks and a little longer in the leg, but he is a tiny bantam to start with.
This is also one of the males I mentioned a while back that seems to add a spur each year. Started with 3 and no more spur bumps, up to 5 now and did notice a 6th spur bump now on one leg.

He's molting again, well about half way back in feather, once he finishes I'll update some pics of them all.

Your little bantam looks pretty good. If his wings were carried higher and not pointed down like a serama/excited OEGB and he had longer leg, he would look great. He has a great top line and a decent head, a smidge of the 'cobra neck' that I don't like too much but most bantams have it. I would definitely breed from him! I don't think I've posted any pics of my bantams in ages. If it isn't snowing tomorrow I will try to get some of our little up and coming bantams too

Here is a pic of our founding male Sumatra, this is the look we strive for, he is not really gamey but he has that wild look. We also breed to meet the standard of perfection with multiple spurs and yellow bottom, we lost some of the bottoms in the duns but I know that eventually we will have that, its just to get new colors you sometimes lose something to gain something else and it just takes a few generations to get it back. I absolutely love these birds and I love the wild look, I have not tried to breed out the wild temperament and they will scream and squawk when caught ;). Flying Monkey Poop is my son, since everyone knows him.
