Sumatra Thread!

does anyone have info on where to buy Sumatra's that are show quality?
I know Doug Akers (SP) Tom Kernan (SP) show and are the east cost Richard Schock doesn't show anymore, but is was a top breeder and there are people with some of his birds. Don't know if they sell eggs or not. But keep in mind if you buy eggs, that don't mean that all the babies will turn out show quality. They just have a better chance of it. If you don't know what the sop is for sumatra, I would suggest finding out and than try to find some that you can see in person, because there are just some things that you can't see in a picture. You could look for some at shows in your area too. Good luck

So my SQ sumatras have been laying for about a month now and for some reason I'm seeing different colored eggs! I'm getting white and very light brown. I'd post a pic but I'm on my phone....why would this be? Or am I over analyzing this? I did get a dozen Sumatra eggs a couple of weeks ago from someone else and they were all consistent white....

yep like the others said, that's just normal. Pretty much just means two different hens are laying. They should be pale, not dark brown. But all my birds , sumatra, d'anver, ohiki, phoenix, flyties etc, they all have some that lay an off shade egg compared to the others. It's just the difference between hens is all, now if it was green or something that'd be different, though there are blue egg laying sumatra too, though very rare
