Sumatra Thread!

We have a promise of a snow storm coming in today and snow is not a usual
event here so making sure everything is ready for it. I am hoping to go for some
new birds in another state next month but it depends on road conditions and
time off from work. There were some scheduled days for the school system to
be off but that may change since they are closed for the snow.

sorry didn't answer sooner, been at work since Tuesday morning. We got snow over the last couple days as well, been a very dry winter so far and just cold temps and no snow really till now.. Did you get ready in time for the snow there? Hope so. Hope all is well and good luck getting new birds!!

Yes we were ready for the snow. Some of the birds are fine with
the snow......others not so much. Our set up is where the birds
have the choice of going into their coops or out in the runs. Some
of the birds had no problem with going out and walking around in the
snow, some acted like the snow would eat their feet and chose to fly
to where ever they wanted to be and some just stayed inside and
watched everyone else playing outside......silly birds.

Quote: I have done both of these methods. I tend to leave the spurs alone, but on the few man fighters I have the spurs come off. I had a polish rooster who had spurs that grew straight outwards. It got to the point that he did what I referred to as the "cowboy walk", so I had to keep his filed back. I have even had a few birds that had spurs grow up and back into the legs that I had to keep filed back.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat and need to get the son and train that hackney pony. Good luck with training him.
Thanks, I think I'll need it LOL never had a colt so mouthy! and he is already gelded.. My stallion was NEVER mouthy, which I always considered I was very lucky since it seems so many are, but this little guy is making up for it!!!

Quote: Can some one please tell Coop Scoop Boogie that is is ok to clip a little bit off the spurs in showing. You don't want to cut off to much. I was told by a friend that if you cut off to much you will get points docked from your score card.
