Sorry to hear that Zach. I hope the last 3 make it and all the others that are to be shipped also make it. One reason I don't like shipping birds.

I didn't realize that wildfires are that common in Washington. I always pictured it lush green or bottom deep in snowWe will probably just drive straight through and take turns driving. When we go to a hotel, we just leave the birds in the car for the night, no one has complained yet.
We did have a wildfire not far from home last week that burned over 1000 acres and there is one closer to Spokane as well. It is hard for me to imagine living somewhere that doesn't have fire danger in summer tjough.

The wild life lessons can save 'em. My kids got 'em & are alive today 'cause they knew not to run in the presence of a Mountain Lion, back away slowly, be quite and make no sudden moves. They also knew to look for mama bear when you see baby bear, unlike all the adults who oohed and awed and proceeded to get between mama bear & baby bear... oh the stupid I have seen. They where taught not to pick up snakes unless you have a positive id it is not dangerous, how to catch various critters that bite with out getting bitten too. Yep. They do listen. There is hope. For all the times that my kids don't listen to me, I am proud to say that they did listen to one thing at least. My oldest screamed that she found a snake and it had a triangle head. When I got there, I seen that she had found a copper head. Got it removed and relocated safely. I must admit that I'm proud she didn't just pick it up, which she has done with a hognose without knowing what kind of snake it was. Chock one up for the parenting side.Maybe there's hope yet.![]()
That's what my friend who hatches some of my eggs does, but she does the dry incubation method. Me, I use broodies. Good luck with you hatch. There is no worries with wild fires here, i woke up at 4am because of the rain last night. I don't know if its because of the bad weather or not, but this morning i had a crow in one coop and finch in another coop.
Just so i know, should i increase the humidity and stop turning the eggs in the incubator?
It is now day 18!
