Sumatra Thread!

the books I am refering to were written well before color photagraphy was invented. So I can only go by what they write, not what they looked like by pictures
I pee standing up. I'm a rooster not a hen

Every time I put my opinion or my results from my flock out in this thread I'm told I'm wrong, argued with etc. It seems the show people and the byc "educators" are a little narrow minded. Sorry if it offends, but that is exactly how it seems.

I'll walk outto my breeding pen with a black rooster and 3 black hens and tell them to STOP doing the impossible and hatching blue chicks. I don'tthink it will make a difference, but I'll be happy to relay the message that what they are doing is IMPOSSIBLE.
Many things are pretty well understood. Until they aren't. Pluto is a planet. Pluto isn't a planet. It was once a documented fact that the world was flat. It was once thought cloning was impossible. Growing up in the 70's all of the scientific "experts" beleived we were headed towards an ice age. Now those same "experts" think we are warming too rabidly. Todays well understood fact is tommorows fiction.
None of us are over 150 years old. None of us saw an actual wild Sumatra. These writings are the only clues we have as to what they originally were.
Again.. this "Blue" of yours behave differently than "Normal Blue Bl/bl+" does. this can only means something.... you have found the "original" blue found on the natve wild Sumatras from their wild habitad, you should be happy about it and should start breeding this lines in an effort to recreate the long lost wild sumatra

I'm honestly not sure what it exactly means other than it is happening. Even though I'm told by the "educators" that it isn't

well, concider yourself lucky. you may very well have found the long lost blue gene found on jungle sumatras of old.. this undocumented blue behaves differently from normal blue and should be special for sumatra owners like yourself

someone, I think it was ChampionSumatra asked for a pic of my Blue laying Sumatra hen and her egg. I call her "Lil Blue" As she is tiny, blue and lays a blue egg. She is 6 years old now. Still an egg laying and egg hiding fool. She is very feral and camera shy so I got these through the living room window. Here is lil blue and her rooster.

and the 3 colors of eggs I get daily. Well almost daily. Lil Blue lays about 5 days a week.

the light reflecting off of alters the color of the blue egg some. It looks more olive in the pic but is a blue egg for sure.

DUDE!!! when I get my broody and msg you about it could I get some of them there blue eggs in that shipment? OH AND SOME IMPOSSIBLE BLACK OVER BLACK made a blue eggs too?

umm it is has nothing to do with my birds health. my birds are very healthy. they are in good shape for sumatras. I found out that the temp on my incubator was at 98 instead of 99 when I last checked it. that is too low for them to hatch well. I am sorry but it has nothing to do with their health. because if you look at my sumatra's in the photos they are not sick or unhealthy looking. sure I know you would think that because of the hatch rate that it must be my birds but that is not the truth.
