Sumatra Thread!

I did well at the Sussex County Poultry Show this past weekend. I was also able to clerk with Tom Roebuck and learn a lot. The judges were great. My Sumatras showed okay but we're beat out by Tom Kernan which doesn't matter because my line comes from him. He won champion and reserve champion AOSB on two black Sumatras, one hen and one cock, Jan Brett won Champion and Reserve AOCCL on w/c polish bantams. My Shamo hen beat out my Sumatras and other Junior birds for Champion Junior AOSB. Here is a photo of my wins. I was honored to do so well and I am looking toward to my crazy show weekend next weekend. I have a poultry show next Saturday the 31st and an ARBA double show the next day!
Congrats Zach, and good luck at the next set of shows.

i have 4 chicks hatched and 14 more are pipping, so far only Sussex have hatched. I'm very pleased so far as this is my first time ever using an incubator, and it is a manual so i think that's not to bad.

I have 1 sumatra and 12 Sussex, so the hatch is going good and theyres still more pipping. I had to help the sumatra out as the shell got stuck to him. I think tho the sumatra has a single comb unfortunately which first of all is bad as it is, but if I can see it on day one of being born I think that also means he's a cockerel. But the Sussex are doing well so I cannot complain.

15 now and 4 more pipping, they just keep coming. i have also collected 21 sumatra eggs so i think next thursday ill set them when i have even more.
