that's a normal andalusian blue bird, just a darker phase... and the WD40 tip works, I've used it a bunch, Sevin dust mixed in with Petrolium Jelly works good too.

those 3 chicks look like black, blue, and splash. 100% sure theres no dun in there, just hatched a good many of them this weekend, totally different in color. If I think of it, I have some more hatching this weekend, will try to get you a dun chick pic, but they are a smokey chocolate down bird as chicks. The only one in question would maybe be the palest one. It's the one I'm saying splash on, but have never seen a platinum chick that young so not 100% sure of what down color they have... Looks mighty splash ish though so far.

Mine finally got going a bit. Still kinda slow, getting a good bit off the dun project, which actually just got changed to a bb red project. The blue black pen is giving me about 1-2 eggs a day right now. Not much but it's better than nothing...

I'm positive on the Black and Platinum chick, the Black is obviously Black and this is now the third Platinum chick that I have hatched. They do look very similar to what you might expect a Splash chick to look like, but their down has a paler gray color to it.

That said, my trio cannot produce Splash offspring, it's genetically impossible. Platinum X Black = 25%, Platinum, 25% Dun, 25% Blue and 25% Black. Because Poe was the only bird in the pen with the Blue gene his chicks could only receive one copy of the gene, resulting no Splash chicks.

The last chick I'm not sure of yet, it's either a very dark Dun or a very dark Blue. It's hard to tell when they're that young but as soon as they start feathering in it's been pretty easy for me to see what color they are. My Duns are looking like dark chocolatey brown colored and the Blues are a shade of slate gray. I'm thinking this chick is a Dun though. It's with my broody hen so I haven't spent as much time with it as I have the ones in the brooder.

From my trio I'm pretty sure I hatched: 3 Platinums, 3 Duns, 2 Blues and 5 Blacks.

12 Sumatra's hatched thus far. 2 are splashes, so I'm keeping them. I have 12 presold, so hoping a few more eggs hatch. Day 22 started at noon, so there is still hope for a late one or 2. I know my customer will be fine with 10. But still I would like to give her a dozen if more hatch. I just want to keep the splash's

It is 84* here. It is hard to believe it is March. It feels like June. I am not complaining though, I have banana trees already up to knee high!`

I got ya, I couldnt remember what your breeders were . But yep if that's them, then the pale one is platinum.
100% possitive no doubt that other is blue though. I've hatched way too may of both blue and dun. They arent anywhere close to each other color wise as chicks, at least these here arent. Some can be tricky to tell from black on both blue and dun, but the dun to blue is night and day.

Got some due off this weekend, will try to pop some pics if I remember to show you what I mean on them

A friend found this year old pair for me at an auction a few hours away. Thought I needed some color besides black. I didn't think $25 was bad for the pair.

I have searching, but don't have the time to read all the pages in this thread. I have blacks and the splashes in my post a few up on this page (I think they are blue splash ). Currently, I have my blue splash rooster with the black hens,what can I expect if I hatch out chick's ? How about if I put my splash hen with one of my black roosters?

Do some people refer to dun as platinum or vice versa? I have been trying to figure out dun?
