Summer feed

what should I feed my chickens during summers? I live in Pakistan where the temperatures are extreme! Summers are from 40-50 degree Celsius.

Right now, I have a fan on for the chickens along with a big exhaust.... still I feel the (medicated)feed is making them heat up or something... their mouths are almost always open despite availability of fresh water all day and night long.

Lately, I lost 2 chickens who suffered an eye infection in which their eye used to get shut and then within a week they would die or even sooner. Took the chicken to the vet and he as usual gave antibiotics and polyfax eye oitnment and asked me to clean the eye with boric powder solution.


Is this all because of summer?

Yes and now I’m giving them pear millet- is that okay for summers ?

As for your question, I'm not sure, maybe it's possible that with extreme heat your chickens maybe be more susceptible to diseases....... but then I'm no expert. Whatever the case, perhaps you should change your feed to non-medicated type and see how that goes.

Exactly! They have the ASEEL chickens here and I feel sick with the feeling that my chickens would
Get into a fight and get the other chicken blind!!!

I have different breeds right now from polish to ayam cemani to Brahmas to Sebrights to Japanese to golden buffs etc.

I’ve changed the feed but I need to know of a custom made summer feed for the chickens owing to the heat here

My birds eat the same complete feed the whole year long...including during my hot summers.

Are you wanting to make a home made feed just for summer?

Actually this is the first time I have chickens in my backyard and the summers are here... I was under the impression that different feed would be given to the chickens in summer...

Maybe that is how your country does it but here in the US we feed the same feed year round.
I have never heard of dong this before. I find it very interesting.
