SUMMER SOLSTICE HATCH JUNE 21!- Blue Marans Hatch

Oh good! I have 22 blue marans eggs from peachick in the bator. I can't wait till they hatch. I got some blue coppers from her in December and they are just now laying. They were the cutest babies when they were little and now I have 4 of thier test pullet eggs in the bator too. I also have 2 test pullet eggs from my black coppers that just started to lay. Wheeeee.... These are due to hatch 4th of July.

My eggs are from her too. My last hatch was 22. 8 clear, 14 made it to lockdown and then 11 hatched. I was pleased considering the friction time with shipping. This batch took 6 days to get to me. Hope that isn't a bad omen.

Her flock is very nice, pretty decent egg color, certainly the best non-BCM eggs I have received to date. My wheaties lay very dark eggs of excellent size.

I've got Black Copper Marans in the bator due to hatch July 4th. I've not ever seen a splash maran. I bet they are pretty. I have seen the blues and wheatens and they are pretty as well. Can a maran be an ugly chicken?

The Blue Copper Splash I sold I saw a few weeks ago and it looked fantastic. It has red and blue specks and great feathered legs. I am going to borrow it for a little experiment when it can lay eggs.

I agree, some of the eggs I got from peachick (this time and last time) were as dark as some of the darkest BCM eggs I've gotten from 4 separate breeders over the last year. I got good results last time I got the blue copper eggs from her. My Blue copper girl that just started laying, has a pretty dark egg too.. just like she hatched from. Her first few eggs were't super dark but they are getting darker and darker and more even in color. They still aren't full size yet though.
My wheatens aren't laying yet but should start up any day now. Thier eggs, I hatched them from, were jumbo sized. I really need to get more wheaten females I have way more boys than girls lol.

It is soooo freaking hot here and way too humid. My bator was 61% humidity with no water in troughs!

So I moved it into the basement where it is much cooler and the humidity way lower.

Anyone else having problems with humid weather? I'd love to here any tips!

Thanks.

Pete
