Summer time treats

What are your favorite summer time treat to give your flock? We are in hot, sunny Florida and I love to give my girls leftover (cold) watermelon and strawberries.

My hens love watermelon rind, strawberries, corn, and cantaloupe (especially the seeds).

you can freeze these in ice too but I will just list them,

watermelon
cantalope
muskmelon
honeydew
bananas w/o skin
tomatoes
beans(green beans fresh, dried beans cooked)
peas
zucchini
lettuce
cabbage
peppers
strawberries
their own eggs, but cooked
garlic, but not onions, they will eat it but onions contain a chemical that is toxic to chickens

even though summer is not offcially here until june 20th... but it's getting to 111-113

so anything that is cool/cold is ideal

i don't like giving my chickens any food that will cause diarrhea.. but they like watermelons..

i guess summer is watermelon season.. since i saw $1 for a seedless watermelon in the local supermarket store's ad..

$2 for organic

maybe i'll grab a few..

cool water, shade, cool surface to lie on and cool foods.. maybe it will help them stay cool in this summer type heat..

Shallow pan of cool water to stand in. Frozen water with fruit in it.

I haven't tried this yet, it's my first time with chickens, but I read about putting corn or peas in muffin tins with water and freezing them. The chickens love to peck at the frozen blob.
