Sun bathing chickens!

Mine also seem to bask in the sun regardless of temperature. If it's cloudy, they laze around, roll in the dirt, and do normal chicky-things. But when they get direct sunshine, they bask and stretch their wings. Some even sit on the ramp up to the pop door and stretch out. After a while, they'll get back to chicken-business.

When my chicks were still in the brooder inside, I would walk them out to an outdoor playpen every day. They would ride out on my forearm. As soon as the sun would hit them, they would immediately drop and sunbathe! It was so hard to walk down from our deck balancing several 3 - 4 week old chicks sunbathing on my arm
