sunbathing chickens?

I had to quit letting my flock watch Zombie movies....Then I switched to classic Hollywood musicals, now they just dance around and cluck.... I can't get them to shut up.

So they sit partially to one side with one leg sticking out? I just saw my polish roo doing this in a small sun patch and kinda got worried about Merek's or something because I heard of the leg paralysis. But I turned the corner to the pen and he was up scratching with the rest of them. At 18 years old this is my first venture raising animals by myself.. and bringing them up from a day old, it would be heartbreaking if something were to happen to them.

i know you are an old hand at it now, but new Chicken Keepers will keep dropping in, so i thot i'd add some pics. My biggest girls ate the first to suddenly flop on one side in the sun. I love it when they lift a wing to expose their bellies. This helps them make Vitamin D3 they need to metabolize the high levels of Vit A and other nutrients in the greens they eat. Min. Of 45 minutes sun a day for strong chickies, firm shells.
