She laid her eggs and sat on them for a while, she was excited for spying on some flocks.

The dusty hen remained calm as she listened to Rowan's response. Part of her was a bit surprised that she had not got defensive; however, she did not express this outwardly. "Very well. Come with me." She turned and began to walk away. Her claws made a *clink* sound with each step, although they were more like shuffles, as the claws were so heavy. "My name is Maplewing," she offered Rowan as she led her further into the shadowy conifer forest of RavenFlock.

Rowan followed a couple of steps behind Maplewing, still greatly intrigued by the metal claws. She had been raised in a group setting similar to the Clans but had never seen the use of metal claws as weapons before. "The claws," she asked curiously. "Do you use them in battle? Aren't they rather... cumbersome?"

Pearl turned her eggs for a while, then she got up to stretch her legs, she went sneaking around to a different flock, limping as if she were hurt to trick other chickens.

"The battle claws?" Maplewing was eager to break the eerie silence between them, and was glad that Rowan was offering to make conversation. "Oh, I suppose. They are rather heavy. But," she added with a wink, "they make up for it in effectiveness. You ever seen the talons of a hawk or an eagle? These wield us the power of those predators."

"Mmm" Rowan nodded in understanding without voicing the words. "I would hate to be on the other side..." Suddenly changing the conversation she asked, "so, tell me a little bit about RavenFlock. I understand your neighbours are, FireFlock, SunFlock and...? Is there another?"

Pearl kept on walking, searching for chickens.
