Sunken Eye Disqualification ?

I think You understand what I was trying to say but I must not have the terminology right because I can't find any references to it anywhere 🤣

Would beetle brow be the same thing?

I don't think what he was referring to had anything to do from swelling due to an acute illness I think it was more about actual skull formation and the position the eyes were set
Beetle brow wouldn't be. I think he means like the extra wide skull found on Brahmas. But also, sometimes you do get sunken eyes on the "failure to thrive" birds that have thin skulls, not necessarily an acute illness, just unhealthy birds.
Beetle brow is actually from breeding in an exaggerated look, & is flesh related, not skull related.
This is a Malay Skull, which looks like a completely normal chicken skull.View attachment 3936732
Wow, did you clean that yourself?

Yes, I did.

BTW this is what the SOP means in accordance to sunken eye, showing a bird with inadequate body and vigor.

But I believe it can also be expanded to mean those birds with eyes sunk deep within their skull l

Thank you for this. Very informative.

Has anyone here listened to the Breed to Perfection podcast episode on Defects and DQs?

He isn't

No I haven't, sounds interesting tho
I actually prefer the podcast Poultry Keepers 360- Much more information without a paywall. Bred to Perfection - I have gotten minimal value from especially compared to the other group. It's ran by Rip stalvey, a woman named Karen (can't remember last name) and Jeff Mattocks frequently is on plus another guy. Poultry Nerds is very New but I really like them too. I do not enjoy the format that bred to Perfection has chosen. He has a very expensive "breeders academy" and the free podcast are essentially a 2 hr podcast where all the actual information is only shared in the second hour which you have to pay for. He spends most of the first hr talking about how great the second hour is and how he can't answer this or that question bc it's proprietary information. Like I said- minimal value for the amount of time listening compared to the other two groups.
