How much sun do chickens need every day? I live in a really hot area but I don't get alot of direct sun. Would it be bad for me to keep chickens?

For laying hens, 14 hours of light (doesn't even have to be natural light) per day is necessary for steady egg production. That is why egg production, particularly the farther north you go and the days "get shorter," the more production decreases until the days get long again. I don't think you need to worry about the light your birds get - with the heat you describe, they might like the relief! Good luck to you!
