Sunroof

Good idea or not to put a sunroof on my chicken coop? My husband is working on it today and asked me if he should put a sun roof on it?


What do you think?

It's plexiglass 1' x 2'

That should be small enough to allow light and not heat so much. Guess only but it sounds pretty cool.

My hubby wanted to know the same thing. I am torn, I thought the light would be nice especially during winter but never thought about the extra heat that it would let in. In winter may be a good thing, summer not so much. I will follow this post to see what the experts suggest.

We went ahead and put it in. It's not very large and there are trees above it to shade it some. I figure if they are too hot in the summer they can just go outside and lay in the shade. I will post pics soon of how mine looks.

Depends on the climate of your location, the weather tightness of the installation and the rest of the chicken environment.
Would love to see it tho.
