I've been talking about having chickens for a few years now... and I finally caved in and bought 32 chicks the 2nd of April 2019. My local tractor supply co. Had marked the chicks down to 50 cents ea. so I bought 32! Probably a good thing I didn't have a 50$ on me!! I spent the 18$ I did have tho! Lol
They were in my house for the last 11 days while I gathered supplies to build a big brooder. (I think that's what it's called anyway)
It's a 4'x6' wood box with their heat lamp, water, & food dish.
A 3 perch roost and a mirror!! Lol
I moved them in today (April 13th)
So many ideas for the coop and run!
Although I only have the run partially framed out and I just set 2 posts for the coop today also.
Now we're gonna get a few bad days of weather.... but that will give me time to draw out my ideas and see what they look like outside my head!
I will hopefully be able to figure out this app so I can add my coop pictures as I build!
Thanks for reading!
I'll be here for awhile I suspect!

:welcome Glad you jumped in and joined us. You'll really enjoy the knowledge and information shared by it's great members. Check out the idea in the "Coop & Run" forum, just remember one thing ... BIGGER the better. Helps with Chicken Math and you've got a head start :lau Were the chicks "straight run" or pullets?

You did a great job on the brooder ;)

Thank you I spent most of the afternoon. On the brooder.
So all but 6 were pullets.
And the 6 straight run were wyandotte.
I was going to let 6 of the chickens reproduce so I could have them to eat.
But after I talked with a Tractor Supply manager he gave me the info I need to buy 50 cent chicks every year.
So I wont be keeping any roosters.
