Third set of new chicks for us…These new girls are all 8-10 days old The whites are Leghorn. One is Huge! She lays down most of the time, pants most of the time and has more butt than front!. Is she okay?? Also, she stays under the heat lamp most of the time even though her body temp is hotter than the other chicks. Should be hens!!!

Oh no. I'm pretty sure there was a mix up, the large chicken looks like a Cornish cross broiler to me. If that is the case, she's going to need pretty intense management to have any quality of life past 8 weeks.

You definitely have a meat bird in there. Having to raise it with the other chicks it is going to be very difficult to prevent it from growing too quickly and greatly shortening its life.

If you plan on keeping the meat bird, there are a lot of videos on YT on how to process them.

Here is a good video of how to butcher a chicken by hand (no expensive machinery).
