Super weird egg!

You all came up with great ideas too late. I went out to get it and found this.

(So glad I have an automatic chicken door).

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

:barnie:hit:hit:barnie:th

I so badly wanted to know what the heck!

If you get another can you pretty pretty please with a deviled egg on top cut that thing open for us?! I'm sure many of us have never seen such a thing, and knowledge is power my friend!

Ive been keeping chickens more than ten years and this is a first for me. This was in my coop today. Two totally normal eggs. One egg that had a sandpaper texture (had that happen but not often) and then the other nightmare.

Some of my hens are quite geriatric, (like 8-9 years old) but none that lay the light brown egg. Any thoughts?
Wow, that’s very odd I have never seen anything like that.

Was it soft....or shelled?
Guessing soft and came with that membrane next to it?
Have seen several of these on the forum in the past few months.
It's an ovary follicle.
Instead of the ova(yolk) releasing from the follicle,
the whole follicle detaches from the ovary.
If you find another, save it in a dish for pics and dissection.
Could be a one off glitch, a disease, or an old gal ramping down production due to shortening days.
