Hy-Line is a corporation that breeds hybrid chickens. They provide female chicks for most of the big egg production operations in the U.S. and around the world.
Hy-Lines "Products"
I would guess most large grocery store eggs, especially the cheaper ones, are eggs from Hy-Lines. They have a hybrid called Hy-Line Brown, that looks a lot like a red star or golden comet. They are a bit smaller than a RIR and they are frugal eaters that produce about 320 brown eggs in 74 weeks. It probably has a RIR somewhere back in the breeding.
