That is huge! i wanna see inside! It probably has like three yolks! Your poor hen has to be limping arround the yard!

Hey you have your eggs in the carton upside down, put the pointy end down. The yolks will stay centered that way, it they are pointy end up, then the yolk can stick to the shell, and can break. It sucks if you want dunkey eggs. And if you ever want to hatch them, then make sure they are pointy end down, or the chicks will be on thier heads.

Thanks for posting pictures of an egg inside another egg, Terrie. It looks like it was fertile too??
Could a duck actually hatch from something like that with having to go through two shells??

I love checking out this website occasionally but I have to be careful how much I get on, because it is addictive.

OH MY IS IT EVER! however I learned alot of stuff here the few days I have been here!

Like that tall basketball player from China?

Wow,
And I thought the egg I found the other day was a "BIIIG egg!" says my 6 year old dd.

My barred rock laid an egg nearly 3 inches long and 2 inches wide.... or useing the tape measure around: over 7 1/2 in. long, and about 6 inches wide.

At least I think it was from my barred rock...it was laying in the middle of the lawn, by a bush they like to scratch under and take some shade in. I thought at first my 2 year old who likes to help me gather the eggs from the coup must have retrieved it and then changed her mind about bringing it to me and set it down and went and played.

Then I thought, or IS it a chicken egg? It's an inch bigger than the rest. Maybe a goose came through but what's the probability of that? I don't have water and there's too many more favorable spots nearby. I candled it and it didn't appear to be fertile. Maybe the chicken couldn't make it back to the coup to lay that monster?

Anyway, upon seeing this...I think I've got a big chicken egg. But yours wins "monster" status.

me,
g

I'd love to see what would come out of an egg that size if you could incubate it.

A new GIANT breed would be born?
