I was searching for different sources of calcuim and came across this information and as I have seen many problems with egg bound hens on the site I wanted to share it;

"CalciBoost is a liquid calcium supplement for breeding and growing birds. CalciBoost has been found to be very effective as an emergency product for egg-bound hens. CalciBoost is easily absorbed and quickly gets to the bones, nerves and muscles where it is needed. If birds have not been on CalciBoost before or are showing signs of calcium/magnesium deficiency use five days a week for the first 1-2 months."

Hi, I am pretty sure my hen is egg bound but I cannot see or don't know if what I am feeling is the egg or not? Where can one purchase CalciBoost? I thought she had been injured because they free range, plus they get cracked corn, Layena and cooked oatmeal, I didn't realize until I started reading that she might be eggbound. What can I do if I can't feel the egg?
Thanks

Yes I used Olive oil on my littlw finger didn't feel anything then I used my index finger. It is rather a large empty space after I get my finger in. Am I checking in the right spot? I cannot feel an egg or if I do I don't realize that is what it is. I am worried because she started this on Wed afternoon. I though she was injured. But I cannot find an injury anywhere. She has not layed an egg since Tues.
Thanks

chuckzoo, is it true that plain yogurt is good for calcium problems ?
I have 2 hens that keep "laying" soft eggs with no shell.
Just wondered if that was from lack of calcium, too.
My hens are also on layena, cracked sratch and free range.

I put her in a warm bath for about 15 mins - she was ready to get out by then - she has been puching but no egg yet - how often should I try the warm bath and should I blow dry her or towel dry her each time?
Thanks

If she is pushing there must be an egg there somewhere. If she relaxes in the bath I would repeat it since I really believe this will help.

You could dry her with a hairdryer provided this does bother her a stress her since they do get quite water logged.

Have you lubricated her vent with vaseline or something similar?
