Supplemental light for winter laying

at least in a lot of parts here.

I am going to give them light in the morning and let the evening do it's own thing. I can just see the light abruptly going off and the girls going WUT?
 
I did a lot of reading on this before I used the extra lighting and read that even a night light or candle would give them enough light,thats hard to believe and I don`t know of anyone that uses that small of a light,Do any of you use a night light?
 
I've got an extra stand of white Christmas lights. The shortest length they make. Gonna string those up and plug them into a timer. Have them come on around four in the morning. So I better get a couple of eggs come Christmas Day. Or there will be hell to pay.
 
If you do decide to go the christmas light route, I would strongly suggest that you make sure they are the ones for outdoor use, not the kind that go on the tree (indoors). Just a thought.
