Supplements/Additions to Feed

I was just wondering what kind of supplements or additives some of you put in your chicken's feed. Ready? Go

In the feed? Nothing at all. Feed is formulated to meet all their needs, so no reason to add anything that can change the nutritional balance of it.

Anything like grit, oyster shell, should be offered on the side so the chickens can take it as needed.

In cases where a chicken needs specific supplementing to deal with a health issue, I mix it into a small amount of fermented feed, lock up the bird being treated with their private breakfast so no one else eats it, then they're free to go when done.

I sometimes put charcoal in their feed, it has great benefits.
