supplier of chickensforbackyards.com???

I ordered my chicks from them too. They will be shipped out on the 11th to MD. I hope everything goes good cause I've read a few horror stories on here and now I'm worried. I haven't been able to find much info for this co. either. They had a low minimum for shipping and since I'm brand new to the chicken raising I thought I'd better start w/only a few. I'll wish US both good luck!

i googled their url, and came across this-

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Chickens-for-Backyards/107622132630752?sk=info

they look like a decent company-

and their Diatomaceaous earth has free shipping- that is a great saver!

Hi.. I ordered 2 australorps, 2 easter eggers, and 2 dominiques!!! starting to get knots in my stomach. I hope they all arrive live and well!

How did everything work out with your chicks from chickensforbackyards.Com? Did you ever figure out who the supplier was? I've got six chicks coming in three weeks, spending every spare minute on BYC! I'd love to know how they were packaged, if they arrived healthy and if they grew up true to breed. Pictures would be even more wonderful! :p

To be terribly uncool, I'll post twice on this dead thread, just in case someone is looking for the same info I've been curious about. Was on the phone with chickensforbackyards.Com customer service adding another chick (don't tell DH) to my order, asked about their suppliers. I was told that they contract with a few different hatcheries, they act sort of as a middle man, hooking people up with small numbers of chicks from hatcheries that would normally require you to buy the usual minimums of 15-25 chicks. So no definitive answer on hatcheries. They are located in Missouri, so I'd imagine they use the several hatcheries in the state. They guarantee live delivery and sexing, which is awesome for a suburbanite like me.

I will say that the lady helping me was super friendly and seemed to give real thought to my request to "surprise me", when i couldn't decide between 4 different breeds that i wanted to add. She said she chose me a breed that she thought would mesh well with the other five breeds that i had already ordered. Sweet lady, she made my day.

Chicks arrive in 2 weeks, will try to post pictures of them as they grow up and report any problems. For the good of mankind and all things chicken, over and out.

:cd
