Ohio House Bill 124 prevents municipalities from outlawing residential homes from having small livestock for personal use such as backyard chickens. It was presented in mid 2019 but has been sent to the Agriculture committee for review. If you go to the ohio legistlature you can send an email to each of the members on the Agriculture committee urging them to recommend that they pass the bill.

I've attached the bill below and a link to it online: https://www.legislature.ohio.gov/legislation/legislation-summary?id=GA133-HB-124

I just added a link to the actual bill online and a copy of it for download. Please share with anyone who is interested!

I emailed City of Parma and they said that they are aware of the bill and if it passes, they will revisit the ordinance. This is from Sherrie Griffith.

This is amazing. We live in Ohio, but luckily we have plenty of land. We do, however, know several people that would love to keep a few chickens for eggs and are not allowed to do so. Will definitely share!

Especially now that we are in the midst of a possible meat shortage. Being able to do something about it would be great- and we city dwellers don't have that option. Please definitely share. I've also attached a copy of the bill and a link to the Ohio Legislature site where people can email the members of the Agriculture committee to recommend that this bill continue onto the voting floor.

Oh! I had no idea. I wondered why my city finally relented.

It’s not actually law yet. It was just proposed last year. It’s still under review. But, if it passes, no local municipality in Ohio can ban backyard chickens. Please share this with people who want to have chickens

Facebook shared it. I hope they do allow it. It's total nonsense not to be allowed to raise a few chickens in your own yard.

Especially because we now have looming meat shortages due to coronavirus. It would help so much to becoming more self sufficient as well as just having a secure source of protein
