Support your 2nd amendment rights!

History is the difference between the UK and USA.

One of our rights was to bear arms because of the relationship with the King of England at the time ( 1750-1776) . It clearly separated the colonies from the lands ruled by a king. It supported the rights of an individual. Supported our rights to vote in leaders. IT all worked together. Very different than England and the UK which still has a QUeen and parliment.

We will always have the right to bear arms. THe question is what arms?

SHould the citizens of our country have the right to carry the same level of armament as the police, or the same as the military?

THe answer depends on how you feel about each of these groups that bear arms professionally. Are they for us or against us?

FOod for thought-- not tryng to provoke an argument.

Good reply, Arielle.

The right to bear arms? Nuclear missles are arms. So I should be allowed to have nuclear missles, according to the Second Amendment.

That is just crazy. People should be allowed to own pistols, rifles, and shotguns. But no fully automatic weapons. That's it. Simple.

Not quiet that simple.

The standard was military value. The ban on sawed off shotguns was upheld when challenged cause at the time it was not thought of as a military value fire arm. The full auto ban has never been challenged.

There is also the wording "keep an bear" which the chief Justice has already hinted to his thinking crew fired is out but shoulder fired rockets may not be.

There is also a new "in common use" standard which most understand to mean 30 round mag/clips an AR-15s cant be banned *** they are the number 1 guns in the US. The debate at the moment is if the fact that the m-16 is common as standard issue it also is protected cause it falls under both common an military value.

I hate the government. That's all i have to say.

Same here.

The news seldom reports on the responsible people. It's always the folks like the guy in Washington state who killed his daughter while practicing his quick draw. Same can be said about a lot of things. The media always focuses on the bad because there is no entertainment in people/groups behaving responsibly.

True...very true.

Word to the wise. A Japanese general who was assigned to lead the attack on pear harbor told his leader that America could not be defeated by invasion. He went to a well known American college and practically grew up here in the U.S. The reason: "To many American citizens own guns in their homes to succeed. It would be manslaughter."

when our country won its independence, the citizens with arms was a major part in making that possible.

You notice they don't tell you how many people are killed with knives, or hammers, or cars, or doctors. It barely gets mentioned. Yet many perishes by them everyday! So makes you think... hmmmm why is that? Why if they perish by a gun does it get broadcasted for weeks and weeks and then the law get brought up and gun rights. They should show how many times guns have saved lives and were used to feed people!

Other tidbits . . . . .

WHen the constitution was written, "bear arms" meant everything from sword to musket to cannon. THe revolver didn't exhist yet, I dont think. And certainly not the automatic, the machine gun nor a missle. ( ANd all the others between machine gun and missle!)

THe right to bear arms . . . . it has become complicated .. . . . If I could sit down and have a chat with the men that wrote this document, and I don't mean the scribe, lol, their opinions would be most interesting . . ..

Listen to the Star spangled banner to remind you that rockets are not new. They are almost as old as gun powder its self.

So is the bomb.

The "machine" gun had been invented well before the Constitution was wrote an several were ordered by the continental congress but canceled based on budget. So no question they knew they existed an where things were going.

Luis an Clark also carried at least 1 rapid fire air gun to intimidate the natives an assure safe passage.

Then there was the automatic crossbow that was well over 1000 years old at the time. It is very fast an very deadly.

Pirates were also an issue to the colonies. They knew full well what a brood side of a cannon filled ship could do to other ships or towns so they hired Privateers to do just that to England an its shipping.

Really the only real new thing that has changed the average persons ability to kill another is powered flight.
