Suppose to be a Black Orpington??

I agree and it didn’t sound mean to me. My guys are facing the broomstick tomorrow and they can thank BYC for their fate. If I had not read and watched a video on here of a little old lady harvesting her dinner, they would of probably lived a lot longer.
That little silkie chick you helped me with a couple of weeks ago is doing great so far. I never knew a hen would feed the chicks crumbles from her own beak. So interesting to watch them interact. Sunday I put the silkie rooster in with them. First night he was sleeping at the opposite end of the pen, last night they all slept together. Now my fingers are crossed that the chick will be female. Never stops quietly chirping so I’m taking that as a good sign lol

If you are familiar with Orpingtons please tell me which one is closest to the standard. This is the black rooster

I love the color of the blue, but combs are something that I pay attention to, and the black has the better one. Points are more even. Check both for sprigs. I don't see any in the pics, but can't tell for sure. Little frostbite, so maybe check your older pics, before winter hit them too.
Both very pretty birds, imho.

Thank you WVduckchick. Yes both have some frostbite. We have had some very cold below zero weather several times. Thinking it would help I shut windows and pop door. Have since learned here on BYC that ventilation is key to prevent respiratory and possibly frostbite.
Not sure what a sprig is so I will look it up and then see what I have for fall pictures. Hopefully I have some. Not much for picture taking sadly. I have to work on that. Thank you again for your help and time. :)

Sprigs are little tips pointing off of the comb in random spots. I was told it wasn't good to continue breeding them. BUT... since I made the comment here, I did some searching and found that although a few offspring may develop them too, its apparently not as prevalent as I believed. So maybe not as big a factor as I thought it would be.

So I guess I'm back to saying pick whichever bird you like the most. :D

I don’t think they have sprigs but will be looking to make sure when I do chores.

lol yesterday I took care of the Javas and put all the roosters from that group in that pen so the hens (mostly for a white rock hen favorite to all) can have a break. That gives me some time to decide or maybe split them and see what each produces. Still going through the different breeds and getting rid of roosters. I have way too many roosters. They are not easy to skin like I thought they would be. Next to go are the speckled Sussex roosters. Slowly deciding what breeds I like best.

Honestly neither are very close to the orpington standard.
I wouldn't even worry about combs. They have bigger issues.
If color matters I'd go by that. If you're not a fan of blue then go with the black. If you like blue go with the blue. I've always like the BBS because you can have three different colors in one breeding pen.
How's their behavior/attitudes? If there's much difference with that then I'd make that my deciding point.
