Suprelorin / Deslorin hormone implant provider in Michigan?

Hello,

One of older ISA Brown chickens had some impacted egg issues in the fall, and we got a vet to place a Suprelorin F implant, which worked great over the winter. She stopped laying, and no impacted egg issues.

However, it just ran out, and her problems have returned. The vet now says that the implant is illegal in the U.S. Has anyone else had this experience? Does anyone know if this might be only this vet, and know of vets in Michigan who can offer it?

Call the MSU Poultry Extension and ask them about it. I have never heard of it. 1-888-678-3464 and follow the prompts.

We had that implanted in one of our girls too last fall! We are in Texas and our vet told us it technically isn’t legal for poultry as there have been no studies on it but found some loopholes in the wording which allowed them to implant it. They just made sure to tell us that since there have been no studies we were just taking on any risk by signing to do it anyways. From my understanding on other threads on this some vets happily do it and others won’t.
