I had kinda the same thing happen twice this year.
Once I had a broody hen hatch chicks. I sold the chicks but when I put the hen back in with her flock they pecked at her so I put up a see no touch divider and she managed to push through it and was happily in with her flock.
And just recently I got 2 new 8 week old Bantam pullets to add in with the other 5 8 week old Bantams. These pullets of the same parents are much smaller. It is obvious that they had been pushed away from food by their standard size frienimies. For a few days, one pullet and 1 cockerel were harrasing the new chooks. But tonight, I came in and they were all snuggling together.
