So it take quite a while from my experience. The reason I had done it multiple times was because it was my fault one the times. The first time I did it she was healing nicely and had a small scab but thought it would be ok to not wrap anymore. It never healed and got infected again. I didn't realize like it until I notice she could walk and when I looked at her foot and touched it, it popped and pus came out. Nevertheless, I felt awful. I thought she wasn't walking because she was lazy. She probably was in immense pain. So I redid the surgery. In the beginning I changed the bandages almost everyday. Later on weekly, then bi weekly and so forth. She has the tiniest scab but I am going to keep bandaging until she is completely healed. I don't know how other people do it but I get large syringes and have them filled with saline and hydrogen peroxide. I also use xerofoam, cover with gauze and then vet wrap. When the wound was open I used neosporin. I had bought a medical kit and found the scalpels were worse than the sterilized razor blades.
