Surgery recovery of 4 days.....Rant

I had Cancer, that's why I had mine done, but I got to keep my ovaries since I'm still kind of young (32) and they weren't infected.
I was terrified to lose my ovaries due to the hormone issues and I have heard that losing them at a young age makes the whole early menopause thing a whole lot worse.

I also had wanted the hysto because I have excessively heavy cycles. I have 3 kids now and was done with that, so no reason to keep the factory, LOL!

I had a large uterine fibroid that caused heavy bleeding and pain. I was 41 when I had it done. Got to keep my overies since they are good. My surgery was one of the best things I have ever done. I didn't have laproscopic so I was cut about 7 inches long. I had about a dozen staples taken out when i left the hospital on the second day after mine. They glued and taped me up and was on my merry way. Had my 6 week check up and was good to go. My whole thing was a breeze.

They did mine laparoscopically Unfortunately, the tumor was much larger than what showed on he ultrasound. It basically got kinda stuck and had to be cut up. I have this vision of a far side cartoon with a doctor pulling a uterus out of a woman with one ovary stuck inside while the nurse says, "Should we shove it back in or just keep pulling?" Laparoscopic doesn't work so well when the object being removed is bigger than the hole.

Mine was for major fibroids and heavy periods which would last most of the month - how fun is that? No wonder I was tired all the time! They couldn't do it laproscopicly, so I had a nice big incision. Isn't that Percoset nice? (BTW, SunAngel, the reason your mom wasn't supposed to drive was because of the medication - didn't stop me). I'm glad I had the extra days, because I sure wasn't able to take it easy when I returned. No lifting, no stairs, minimal walking, lots of rest said the doctor. What I got was house painters traipsing around (DH thought it would be a nice time to have the house painted), dogs getting out and me having to chase after them (beagles have no sense to come home), son's rock band practicing daily for hours preparing for a battle of the bands (and eating like a swarm of locusts), and hubby 200 miles away for work. Yep, plenty of rest and relaxation

Amber, try to get rest - it truly does help you heal. If that pain continues, definitely call the doctor even if it's just to put your mind at ease. I didn't have any of that kind of pain. I stopped taking pain meds within a week of being home - still took ibuprofen from time to time, but I don't remember experiencing the type of pain you're having.
Sending healing thoughts your way,
Liz

hugs... oh Amber... I pray for your pain to ease and your loved ones to step in because their help is needed with Hayden... now know he'll be ok and so will you...in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

hugs,
gretch

I'm home from the hospital. I had a CT scan to check for infection, bleeding, etc. It was all clear. They changed my pain meds so I wont be throwing up anymore!

I have just been doing WAY too much. I'm gonna head to bed now and rest.

I am glad to hear that apparently nothing serious is wrong. You have heard all the advice, so for now, just take a good nap, then, get up place the baby close to you and get on the internet and we will keep you quiet by making you stay with us. Give Hayden lots of hugs (I think the smell of a baby is very healing - at least until the diaper fills lol). Take care of yourself.
Prayers and gentle hugs to you (and huge smooches to Hayden).

Hurry and heal!
