Surprise! Broody time.

URGENT CHICKEN UPDATE: WE HAVE BABIES!!!

At least two chicks hatched out so far, one was still a little wet around the edges, and I heard but could not see a third peeping under momma. Might still be in the egg/in the process of hatching. I will check back later today and get some new video to post.
CONGRATS!!!

Went back, and actually lifted momma up to get a proper count. Current baby count is at 4, with two more eggs pipped, one of which is zipped, so expecting at least 6 by tonight.

I'll take the two at the bottom of the picture.

You'll have to fight my daughter for them, lol.

Pretty sure the buff is a orp/rir cross. The big one has that common EE look (and one of the Ameracauna eggs is one that had hatched) but the black has a kind of fluffy muff so maybe it came from the blue egg? Thinking the sliver/blue chick came from the one darker egg that hatched.

Yup, that's the long and short of it.

Oooh baby number 5 is out of the egg and confirmed 7th egg has pipped! Things are actually progressing a bit faster than I thought they would!

Ive never tried to move a broody in the middle of a hatch. I have tried prior and usually they won't stay and they end up moving back to the old nest or get all upset and create a freak fest trying to get back to the original nest.

You'd probably be best to wait until the eggs are done hatching and then move her. I wait until they've bonded for a day before moving them. That lessens the chance that she'll lose them or they lose her.
