Surprise. I’m receiving two crippled guinea keets and one “healthy” keet.

Well I came home and somehow the healthy baby got out of the brooder and into the chicken coop. I came home to it being attacked by a chicken. Now it’s leg is broken. You try to do something good and this is what happens. I am so upset. It’s because it was a rush job setting up this stupid emergency brooder and I had no choice but to leave. I am sick beyond measure over all of this.

Probably final update. Splayed leg baby is already close to normal leg position and walking well. Little stinker got out of its leg wrap. I rewrapped it for the night and I think it’ll be fine by tomorrow. Broken leg baby and slipped tendon babies have been laid to rest. We added three more keets and secured the brooder area completely. They were all quietly sleeping under the heat plate. We searched all of the feed stores and found only 24% chick starter for game birds. Hopefully no more accidents. I’ve brooded probably close to thirty chicks over two years and had never had anything like this happen. I’m definitely beating myself up, but I am looking forward to watching them grow and having Guineas on the homestead.

Oh, I’m so sorry to hear that both had to be put down! I hope that your quartet does well - best of luck with them!

Chewy.com carries turkey or game bird starter at reasonable prices with reasonable shipping costs too.
I’ll order some. I only got a five pound bag of the gamebird starter anyways just until I can find something else. Thanks for the suggestion! I love chewy for my cat and dog food.
