Last night went out to get my last eggs of the day. I'd seen one of my little girls sitting in a next box for the 1st time.
I got her in a batch of Surprise Special Pullets from Ideal, and we, T and me, thought she was a Cuckoo Maran, well..................maybe a Barred Rock but legs are the wrong color. Imagine my surprise
when low and behold..........
there's a WHITE egg in the nest, and I have no white egg layers in that coop, that I knew of. I got ahold of T, my "chicken mentor" and told her about the white egg. After a few minutes of computer questing
she told me it had to be a Barred Holland, a breed she'd never heard of.
So we both learned something! I've got her separated in the pen for sex-linked chicks, at least if it doesn't work with her, I'll be able to tell her eggs apart!
