So a while back we were rehoming a parrot to a family that owns an aviary. They asked us if they could use their incubator to try and hatch one of our duck eggs...and I said "why not".... not thinking that it would work.

Well it worked. and it should be hatching around the 18th.

So now we are going to have an Indian runner/mallard cross.... and I have also located another duckling friend for this baby hatching around the same time.... He/she will be a cayuga.

I have no idea what to expect. our ducklings were about 2 weeks old and it was in the spring.

Any tips with Cayugas? Does anyone else have a runner/mallard mix? PICTURES??? Im DYING to know what it may look like.

and I found this pic??

I will post as soon as i can. Im hoping that the one from our two ducks survives the hatch. I really don't know what to expect :(

Well as long as they don't let the humidity drop in the incubator and let the lil one hatch without interfering things should go fine. Are they experienced with hatching? If not you may want to give them some info, because people get very stressed when ducklings take so long to hatch, nothing like a chick hatches.

This will be their first duck hatch... but they run an aviary and hatch every type of bird! I was rehoming a parrot with them and was gifting them a dozen of our runners eggs..when they asked if they could try and hatch one. I wasn't prepared for it to work... but it did. Im hoping it survives. I will pass on some info i have found in the forum.

Finger, toes, and wings crossed!
