Surprise in the live trap

Quote:
Wow, it says they are tameable. Well that would certainly make an interesting pet!

The guy who built my coop had one from a few weeks old that he bottle fed and raised in their house. She got mean as she got older and now can't be handled without sustaining bite injuries.

Ring-tail cats are also called 'miners cats' and 'cacomistles'. They are pretty common in forested areas in Northern California, but elusive. They mostly eat mice and insects. I think they're too small to go after a chicken. I came face to face with one just before one dawn and we were both shocked. May the flock be with you.

That is such a gorgeous creature, I've never seen one before, I read "ringtail" before the photo loaded, freaked out a bit and thought your caught a lemur somehow

every time I see that pic I want one!
The only thing I ever trap is possums and ticked off coons.

Trust me they do kill chickens and feed much as you would expect a weasel to.... Took a friend of mine a long time to figure out what was getting his birds and caught it on a camera climbing down a tree branch, dropping on the roof and crawling into the hen house through a small vent. Finally caught it in a live trap and animal control relocated it as they are a fully protected species in AZ.
