Not sure if you saw the movie "Heaven is For Real", but this reminds me of it sooo much...In the movie (based off of a true story) the little boy visits a butterfly house and doesn't have the courage to pet the tarantula at the butterfly house. After his near death experience in which he sees heaven, he is un-afraid and has his parents take him back to the butterfly house where he holds a tarantula. This just seemed like a scene right from the movie haha.My grandson Evan goes back to South Dakota every year to spend the summer with his dad, stepmom, and his other grandparents. My ex-son in law's parents are great people, and we share Evan's life in photos and posts on Facebook, as well as spend time with them when they come out here to pick him up. They are volunteers at the Sertoma Butterfly House in Sioux Falls. This year when Evan went back he got a surprise. His grandparents, Jan and Paul, arranged for him to be a volunteer too! He got a T-shirt declaring that he was "staff" and he did a fantastic job. He can tell you the names and habits of more butterflies than most people can ever imagine existed. He fed, he cleaned, and after just a short time he actually qualified to give tours! Yep, not bad for a little guy.
But his biggest accomplishment was getting over his fear of spiders, and in typical Evan fashion he did it in a big way! This is Evan with Lily, the Sanctuary's resident tarantula.
