I need to take some photos of our other orb weavers, we have many kinds but the golden orb weaver is my favorite except i am always running in to them in the woods, they move alt when you do that.LOL

What a gorgeous spider! I'm like Minx...I'm rather fond of the jumping spiders. Watching them hunt is a bit like watching an teeny, tiny, 8 legged cat....lol. My whole family tends to 'rescue' spiders we find in the house by taking them back outside.

I love watching jumping spiders hunt as well! One time I set one down on the window sill and I didn't realize there was a gnat on the sill. The Jumping spider jumped on it and rolled around on it and killed it. It was pretty cool to watch.

The worst thing I saw though was when I saw 2 jumping spiders of the same size fight. They were on a car windshield and I watched as one crawled out and didn't realize it was being stalked by the other. I didn't realize they would fight, and so when one jumped on the other I was shocked. It was terrible because one of them killed the other! I was so shocked! Spider drama!

It never occurred to me that spiders would fight that way! So violent!

The first time I saw a jumping spider hunt it was stalking a housefly of all things. I've never seen any other spider move the way that one did...it was just like watching a cat stalking a mouse! When it made its final leap and caught the fly, it missed trapping both wings and the fly tried to fly off. The spider had anchored itself before it lept on the fly though, and they both ended up at the end of the spiders silk turning in circles until the spider managed to kill it. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen and the most interesting spider too...lol.
