For about a week, Ive seen about 3 young chicks in the abandoned lot next to me. I'm not sure where they came from.. But they are always coming into my yard and look very very skinny! They love to nibble on my hens feed that they drop.

Today I was doing my usual rounds and saw one of the chicks in my yard. I went and called my husband to help me catch it.

I fed it noodles and chick starter :) The chick seemed to devour it! It must be hard living on just grass and bugs alone :(

Anyone have any guesses as to gender, age or what breeds it can be? I'm just curious. It seems very underfed. :(

and why is half its face red?

it seems to have a very pale comb.. and very tiny comb at that. These pictures I edited them to make it look bigger.. but it looks like a 6 week old chick or something.. Any thoughts?

its a game but gender is hard to right now but if i had to guess it would be a cockerel

Poor thing! Looks like he got burned or something? So glad you are taking care of him!! :)

Looks like a Thai cockeral, probly around 3-4 months old. He is not burned. They have hard feathering, so they have some bald spots. Mine looked naked for awhile when he was a chick. He doesnt look that skinny in the pics. Its normal for the keel, elbows, and sometimes the neck to have bald spots because they aren't fluffly.

this is what he looks like now at 6 months old (dont have chick pics)
