All 4 of our Banatms went broody at the same time. Was impossible to break them, so we have 2 sitting on fake eggs, and 2 share/sitting 5 bantam eggs. We’ve never had them stay on eggs long enough to hatch.
So… when I went to let them out this am, I checked under the pair, and there was a hatching. Sadly it didn’t make it, but we have 2 more since hatched and at least one pipping!

The problem… one of the shared hens has been wanting to me a momma for 6 years 🥺 BUT I don’t think she’s meant to be a momma. We tried to intro chicks to her, didn’t go well. Part of me thinks she just wants to sit eggs, is this even a thing?

She pecked the chicks a few times when we left them together, at first I thought she was trying to tuck them under her. But idk? First two are pic of one, see her beak? Is that from momma? Or hatching? The videos show She’s frantic, wants to get in with the babies and her co-momma, but also show her pecking, we’re so worried she may have killed our first hatchling, and don’t know what to do. Help please UGH 😩

It’s a natural urge to want to be broody but some broodies just don’t make good mamas unfortunately. If she’s been mean to the chicks before I would be leery…
