Surprising things geese eat

I HAD a lovely pot of peacock orchids, growing safely -- I thought -- on the top step by the door, barricaded behind a piece of (tacky-looking) plastic fencing. While I was pruning lilacs, my two goose girls somehow got past the fencing and were pulling all the plants out of the pot, disdainfully throwing them away without taking a bite.

They didn’t taste good, ONLY TASTY TREATS MUST GROW. 🤣

I was wondering if anyone has tried feeder/bait fish? I always thought geese did eat small fish and got to thinking about the way their teeth are. They seem to be fast enough in the water and anything they bite shouldn't have a chance to escape.

I had 50 mid-sized feeders in a murky pool and haven't seen any lately. The geese have been diving after something. No eyewitness of fish eating, however, so it could have been a racoon, the weather, etc.

My geese have never showed an interest in eating anything alive. I've thrown small fish, worms, grubs, etc near them and they always look at me like I'm crazy. 🤣

He might be a throw back to the age of carnivores horses! But I have heard of this, not sure if it's a boredom/aggression thing or something natural.
He did come from a barn where the owners fed their horses steak sandwiches on occasion, so probably a learned trait? Nature is strange and isn’t as black and white as we percieve it, my mom and I saw a jackrabbit eating what looked like the lower half of a rat a few years before that, ultimately the animals that survive in the wild are the opportunistic ones probably. A meal is a meal.
