Rooting for Roy here. I had never heard of fly strike, but was on here searching after finding a hen who died of this today, - a 5 year old leghorn. Nothing seemed amiss yesterday. I hope it never happens again, - not a pleasant discovery at all!

yes, I do have a vet that I take my cats to. I will see if they can do that for me. Thanks for the suggestion.
Wonderful!! yes that is much better. I am new at this whole worming and dosage thing and did not want to mess this up. Thank your for your help and expertise. You sound
like you have some experience is the vet world, a good person to know. I gave Roy is first installment of the wormer today, I have him 3/4cc because I wanted to be safe, and not overdose him
I will correct the dosage tomorrow. I hope this does the trick, noting else has worked so maybe he does have a bad case of worms. He has been loosing weight
so maybe this is his problem.
I am going to print this off and post it on my cabinet where I keep their wormer so I can refer when needed.
One more question. Should I wait and give the rooster booster cell formula after the worming is done?
Thanks so much for you help. I hope this does the trick for him.
I don't think the Poultry Cell is going to adversly affect either the wormer or Roy. I have given wormers and this together before with no obvious ill effects. If I was treating for cocci, I would probably not give it during worming, but you aren't treating for that. I think it says 1 to 3 cc's per bird. I have large fowl and have just used the 1cc dose. He's a bit bigger than mine so maybe 1.5 cc for a few days in a row and then see how he does. Then maybe a few times a week for upkeep. Doesn't have to be consecutive days. See if it makes any difference for him after a few weeks. He may just be lacking something, especially if he has had worms. You may be able to get him to take it willingly from the syringe, they seem to like the taste.
Oh my! What a beautiful and happy looking flock you have. Roy is gorgeous and I'm praying he will fully recover from his trauma. My male Maltese had fly strike last year. We rushed him to the vet bc I'd never seen anything like this and was so scared. He healed well but it took a while for him to get back to being his happy loving self . Wishing you and Roy all the best. Are your girls wearing little dresses? Adorably cuteThank you, you are so sweet to be following this thread. I have done all that I think I can do. It is up to him and nature to work it out. If I end up loosing him, I will be ok because I did all that I could and I know that. I will just concentrate on making what ever time he has left enjoyable and with as much happiness as possible. Here are some pics of my Roy. He is the best rooster, the first rooster that I ever had. At first I did not want him because I heard that rooster are mean and aggressive. I tried to re-home him with no luck, thanfully. I raised him from a chick, I am glad that I kept him. He is the most friendly rooster that I have ever known. I had no idea that roosters could be so sweet. I am lucky to have had him. I will keep you all posted on his condition.![]()
