Faith had to think on that one. Could she balance the pup on her back while climbing up what had turned into a mudslide? She glanced back at Ella. It wasn't likely and Faith was not going to risk the pup going under the water again. She took Ella in her maw again, climbing up as far as she could on the slippery ramp out of the den. Her eyes holding a pleading look, she held out Ella as far as she could with the hopes that Sylver could reach her.
Sylver snapped her jaws in the air, trying to reach Ella. She reached farther, her weight set on her hind legs to keep from falling. Reaching out, her jaws closed around the tiny puppy's scruff. She pulled back, and stumbled away from the edge.

Odio hid behind a rock, and watched as Sedna ran and hid. "She's afraid of them..." he said quietly. "But... why would she have a reason to fear her own pack?" he mused under his breath.

Endigo looked surprised, as he realized what was happening. "Go on. What happened?" Endigo said, smiling gently at both girls.

"I saw her," Lightning said, "and I attacked. She ran, but I couldn't shake the feeling that she was leading me into some sort of trap. Well... I was right. She led me down a dark alley, and the next thing I know, she's behind me. She and I fought, but she was just too strong for me. I remember getting slammed head-first into a brick wall, and when I woke up she was dragging me onto the Thunderpath (highway). She smirked at me, before she ran into another dark alley. I turned and tried to get up, and saw that Black Magic was beside me, even more torn up than I was. After that, I remember a monster (car) roaring towards me, then waking up in a cage and hearing twoleg voices."

Faith sighed with relief as Ella was taken from her grip. Now, she was left with the task of getting herself out. She scrambled part of the way up the slippery slope, her teeth snapping shut on the vine she had draped into the den before returning. Using the very last bit of her strength, she dragged herself up the slope, until finally, her paws had a firm grip beneath her. Then, she stumbled out of the den and fell to her side, exhausted.

"Sylver?" she panted, her sides heaving. "The next time I say we need to seek shelter... Ignore me." She managed a pitiful smile, at last catching her breath and sitting up again.

She looked toward the den. That place was a death trap! Her brow furrowed, a frown crossing her maw. Taj... But she shook her head. "We'd better get back to the dens and make sure everyone else is okay," she said calmly to Sylver, getting to her feet and heading off.

Sylver nodded, and loped with tired steps towards their home. She couldn't wait to leave Ella in a warm den, and find Taj.

Endigo was shocked, but he quickly turned angry. "Where is she?" he growled, whipping his head around and looking for her. "This calls for punishment!"

Lightning sniffed the air and began following Sedna's scent trail. "She went this way."

It was dark, pitch dark. Taj had only managed to get a grip and stop sliding in what felt like a small, open cavern. His eyes tried desperately to adjust to the darkness, but they could not. Not enough light found its way this far underground...

He felt around the cavern he had landed in, eventually finding a tunnel where water continued to flow out of the cavern. That way was down... And this way was up, he thought, feeling an incline as he walked along through the murky darkness. But it was slippery and would be a long, hard climb to get out.

Taj sat, thinking as hard as he could. Down could keep going forever... But he may not even be able to go back up the tunnel he slid down... Things weren't looking good for him... What would he do if he never found his way out? What would Fay and Sylv do without him..?

Taj got to his feet, taking in a deep breath and gathering up his courage. He felt his way to one of the tunnels. It was the only shot he had. "Wish me luck..." he uttered to himself. And then he closed his eyes and dove into the tunnel going down...

((And I will be right back. ;) ))

((Back!))

Faith didn't say a word as they walked, clearly spending the time worrying over what may have happened to her friend. Taj was all she had left from her old home, from the dogs she had come to think of as family. Much as she didn't want to admit it out loud, she missed him already.

She practically crumbled with relief when the dens came into sight, nodding to Sylver to tell her she should go take care of Ella. Picking up speed, she headed right for the Alphas' den and peered in. "Rex? Melanie?" she called into the den, feeling like she must have looked a mess all covered in mud and soaked to the skin in water.
