(Right? Haha, I'll just have to wait for Hannah.(I hate it when that happens. I'm sorry! :L )
Cyan snarled at Cerise, aiming to snap his jaws shut on her muzzle and silence her, but instead stopped himself. Instead he stood over her, angry and yet... On the verge of tears. Instead of inflicting the wound he'd been poised to administer, he turned away. Small tears pooled below his lower eyelids, and, though he had tried to keep her from seeing them, he knew she'd seen them. "He disrespected you... I was defending you honor... I... I... I lo-" he trailed off as he heard Teal announce his new role and walked away, putting on a firm face and marching away. He assumed that Teal would give him the role of Beta, but figured he'd just keep his trap shut and see what happened next.Cerise stayed strong, casting a mournful look at Cyan. "You nearly killed that dog, Cyan, because you thought you had the right to. Making you Beta was the worst thing I ever did for you," she replied, her voice shaking here and there as she did. She had to stay strong... Stay strong... Her gaze moved to Steel, whose form cast a long shadow into the den from where he stood.
"Chroma pack, rejoice!" Steel called, looking down over the dogs that had gathered below him. "For you are under new rule! I will be your Alpha from now on!" The uncertain mutters coming from below caused him to frown. So they didn't like the change, huh? He snarled. "Silence!" And the dogs below fell silent, all eyes staring up at Steel.
"Good... Now, meet your new Beta," Steel continued, and he glanced back at Teal expectantly.
The dog emerged from the den, and the Chroma pack dogs below gasped and screamed in fright. In their panic, they hardly noticed the look Teal had on his face. "Sorry, Steel, but you have outlived your usefulness. I don't need you anymore." The very words he had spoken to the Jargoan Alpha months before were now reaching Steel's ears, causing him a great deal of confusion. Before Steel could turn to confront Teal, though, Teal kicked him suddenly, and the massive dog went flying over the side of the ledge he stood on.
Steel tumbled and fell, hitting the ground with a mighty thud. He lay in a crumpled pile, his legs twisted in odd angles. He was completely still, no signs of life. Steel was dead.
And without missing a beat, Teal took his place on the ledge. "Dear Chroma pack dogs," he began, his cold voice causing the dogs below to fall silent in terror. "You are now under my control. Obey me, and all will go smoothly. Disobey me, however, and I might just have to kill your beloved ex Alpha just as I killed your ex Beta."
Mystery had gone still, his chest tight and his body cold. He stared with wide eyes up at Teal. He lived... He... lived... But... Mystery shook his head, getting to his feet. The regret he felt, the uncertainty that coursed through his body when the Chroma pack dogs had dragged Teal away to be executed... All of that faded away. Mystery was angry for once.
