Ella ducked inside the den and noticed that he was following. She smiled.

Taz slunk inside, his claws making clicking sounds on the hard ground, even though they were muffled. He sat down, and nuzzled her.

Mystery was gradually coming to, feeling some strength in his limbs again. He was so tired, though, and still could not drag his eyes open, instead just lying there in darkness with his ears tilted just slightly toward Dixie. "Dixie... You..." He swallowed and took a deep breath. "You... give me... strength... Will... to go on... I want... to say something..." His eyes finally opened, rolling to meet hers, and his smile grew, just slightly. Just seeing her... He felt so warm and at home, like nothing he had felt before. And his strength was returning with every moment he basked in this feeling within him. "Never had the... the courage to... Maybe I wasn't strong enough, or... But now... Now, I think I am..." He paused to moan, for as the numbness left his body, he began to feel achy from fighting, and the wound to the back of his neck stung badly. His eyes closed again and he winced, but he managed to tough through it. "Dixie... I..." Oh, he was tired... He struggled to stay awake. This was a message too important to make Dixie wait...

Dixie stood there, her eyes locked on Mystery's as she did. Her heart seemed to beat faster with each word he said. Slowly, she began to make out what he was saying. Small tears pricked at the corners of her eyes. "Oh, Mystery..." she said softly, her gaze never leaving his. She waited for him to finish his sentence before crying, as she had the feeling it was something important that he was trying to say.
