Ella nodded, flopping down beside the pool of water and letting her front paws dangle in it, allowing a small smile.
In a few minutes, Taz's breath slowed, and he managed to struggle to his feet. He padded silently towards Ella, his fur dripping wet and heavy, making it hard to walk. He began to explain. "When you're in the water, you always have to keep your legs, front and back, moving, no matter what. Also, try to take in a big intake of air before you dive, so that you float better," he said in a low, almost hushed voice. Taz glanced at the murky depths with worried eyes.
Ella nodded, seemingly uncertain of herself, now. "Okay..." she said in a soft voice.
"Don't worry, you can do it. Remember, I'm always here to save you," he replied in a encouraging tone, grinning.
Ella nodded, then took a deep breath and leaped into the pond, her legs churning slowly but not too slowly. She felt herself sink and gasped, but... She didn't go under. No, instead, she was paddling around the pool, her head mostly under water, but still not submerged! Weak as she was with swimming, she was still doing it! She was swimming!
Taz brightened. "You're doing it! You're swimming!" he howled happily, and jumped in after her.
Ella nodded and yelped, "Yeah, I AM!" Suddenly, her swimming faltered and she sank. Leaping to the surface again, she purposely dove under the water to get a look around. Wow, she thought as she saw all the fish. She resurfaced and laughed with glee.
Taz's heart froze as he saw her go under. But as she resurfaced, he relaxed, his heart continuing to beat normally. He swam towards her, nearly leaping out of the water for pure joy.
Ella laughed cheerfully, and, finally, exited the pond for a break. "Yes, I did it!" she yelped, leaping about.
Taz crawled out of the freezing water after her, his legs wobbling from the weight of his soaked fur. He shook himself, droplets of water flying everywhere.
Ella laughed and rolled in the grass happily, wiggling every which way, rubbing away the water. Finally, she stood up. She now looked like a pincushion, with sticks and grass poking out everywhere.
Taz couldn't contain himself: he burst out laughing. "Y-you.... look..... like.... a porcupine!" he said in between heavy guffaws. His laughter slowed and silenced to a chuckle.

Dixie saw Mystery's eyes open and she looked at him. "Mystery...! Mystery...?" she exclaimed, joyous at first but sorrowed by the realization that his eyes were now closed again. She sighed sadly and laid her head down by Mystery's and began to sob. Her wounds, the poultice still slapped on over them, were no longer bleeding, but still hurt tremendously. Saffron looked down at Mystery uncertainly and sighed. "I'll admit, I've never dealt with this before..." she said quietly.Mystery, though his eyes closed, had twitched significantly when he heard Dixie's voice. His ears perked briefly and his toes curled and uncurled, and then he fell still once more. But slowly, very slowly, his eyes opened just a bit, thin slivers of green against his black-furred face. He was numb, completely numb, but he still managed to look directly at Dixie. And then his eyes fell closed again.
Morado trotted over again, though he kept his distance from Dixie knowing that their last time speaking had not exactly ended on good terms. He looked to Saffron as well, but didn't say anything further than Celeste's question. He was a digger, strong from the work that involved. He was relatively sure the reason he had been asked to help the medical dog was in case they needed to move the wounded to the big den.

Celeste cleared his throat, uncertain of whether her was being ignored or if Saffron simply hadn't heard him. Saffron turned to him and a look of thankfulness crossed over her face. "Oh, thank goodness you're here! I'll need some muscle to move Viridian to my den," she exclaimed, looking Celeste and Morado over. Morado was clearly bigger and would be more suited to the job, but she knew that Celeste could help.
Ella froze as he went stiff and her head whipped around. Her eyes widened at the sight of a human and she hissed, "Oh no!"Taz ducked, her paw swiping through the air. He crouched low into a playing position, but froze as he saw a human in the distance. It was a child. His fur prickled uncomfortably as memories flooded into his mind.
